North River now open on First Avenue
North River opened on Dec. 19 at 166 First Avenue near East 10th Street… Per Eater, the chef is Adam Starowicz, who worked at Hearth and Momofuku Ko. "The menu is mostly American comfort food, with dishes like ham salad, grilled salmon with kale and farro and fried chicken." You can find the North River menu here.
Previously the space was home to La Zarza Lounge.

Take a look at the menu. I can't afford to pay $15 for a meatball appetizer. I'll stick with the more affordable eateries still in the neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteHate knocking a newcomer, but nothing "comfort"(ing) about the price or the atmosphere. Stopped in to check out the menu, was just as turned off by the sterile over-lit dining area as I was the price.
ReplyDeleteBut will they serve biscuits for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drunk?
ReplyDeleteAre they going to remove the erect blue penis from their roll-down gate any time soon? Enquiring minds want to know! And the menu - boring and way too pricey. I'll pass
ReplyDeleteDON'T TOUCH THAT PENIS!!!
ReplyDeleteNothing says People's Champion quite like a $12 bowl of chicken soup.
ReplyDeleteAnd +1 to keeping the blue penis
Tell them to pait their pull-down gates. They look like crap!
ReplyDelete$10 for lettuce with tomato-shallot dressing? You've got to be kidding.
