A look at your new post office on East 14th Street

By now you know that the Peter Stuyvesant Post Office will be closing soon (enough) on East 14th Street near Avenue A… and the USPS is leasing the former Duane Reade on East 14th Street near First Avenue just for retail services, such as stamp sales and P.O. boxes.

There was a hole in the paper on the inside of the former Duane Reade… we took a look inside the other afternoon…

Not real exciting, but… No official word just yet when this location will open for business.

Previously on EV Grieve:
Report: Closure of the Peter Stuyvesant Post Office is pretty much a done deal

  1. I may have missed it but where do we go to pickup packages that did not "arrive" when we are not home? Please tell me we will not have to schlep to 4th ave.

  2. I look forward to visiting this new location and waiting in long lines surrounded by disgruntled customers. It will be fun!

  3. @Anon. 9:31, since it's the PO, they have not announced it yet. Last I heard package pickup was going to be somewhere on East 53rd Street. Yes, really.

Mail carriers will be transferred to the Madison Square Station on East 23rd Street near Third Ave.

Large parcel services will operate out of the F.D.R. Station at 54th St. and Third Avenue.

  6. The projected opening was supposed to have been today...maybe they meant a late-night Valentine's Day Soft opening. THAT might be exciting

  7. Forcing people to pick up packages in midtown will pretty much ensure that they have things shipped by private carriers. Counter-productive, no? As for counter-unproductive, see you at 4th Ave. P.O. The latest hotspot?!

  8. I'm kind of going to miss being on that package pickup line watching people absolutely lose their shit and occasionally going mental myself. Ha ha, no I won't. Goodbye, Stuyvesant, you crazy fucking diamond.
