Doc Holliday's turning 20 this week

    Doc Holliday's and Lucy nearby should get an award for hanging in the 'hood so long when so many other old-school joints have hit the dust. Raise a glass.

    I still miss the restaurant that was there before Doc's. Nice place, and much more of a pioneer than Doc's, classier, too.

    @John M, The Pharmacy, one of the first new businesses to open on Avenue A in the early 1980s. Yeah, that was a nice place...

    I'm wondering when David McWater will sell it to some d-bags like he did NIce Guy Eddies. Then we can have another place for the "EV Rich and Famous" to hang out.

    He will sell. His price is $350k for the liquor license. His soul has been sold so you can't have that.

    Ugh. Hate this place. It is not old school, when it opened it was a lousy neighbor and it has stayed a lousy neighbor. The few improvements it has shown over the years are due to pressure from the block.

    And fuck "pioneers". There was a functioning pharmacy in this space before the yuppie bistro that was called Tompkins Square Pharmacy. We could still use a pharmacy in the area, but it couldn't pay the same rent, I assume.
