ReplyDeleteR.I.P. Joey. I met the Ramones at a book signing my first week in New York in 1993. Joey was the nicest, Marky was cool, CJ was kind of indifferent and Johnny was grouchy. They all lived up to what I thought they'd be. Gabba Gabbe Hey!

i remember that day well. i had just turned 20. went walking around manhattan and riding the subway with my discman blasting ramones songs, feeling bummed out. ended up that night at some punk show in south williamsburg (when you could actually have such things there) and kept drunkenly shouting for the band to play some goddamn ramones songs.
