Free tonight in Tompkins Square Park: 'Fight Club'

The Films in Tompkins series continues tonight at sundown with 1999's "Fight Club."

Does anyone really need a ploy synopsis?

And upcoming ...

July 31: "The Harder They Come"

Aug. 7: "Labyrinth"

Aug. 14: "Midnight Cowboy"

The films start at sundown... and there will be local bands or DJs performing from 7 to 7:45 p.m.

Also, bring mosquito repellent.

  1. Isn't this kind of an odd choice for a free public movie? Its not like its for kids.

  2. I'm glad to see that certain TSP movie selections aren't just for the family set. Not everything needs to be geared towards 12 year olds.

Midnight Cowboy will be even better.

  3. Did you know fight club is about Landmark forum? As is The Matrix... I love Fight Club, but see the movie through a different lens after learning that.

Also, I left my phone in a cab once, and it somehow ended up at the Landmark Forum office by MSG, and now I have this conspiracy theory that LF has an agreement with cabbies, where they pay for phones, then try to recruit people when they come to get their phones back...

  4. It's really cloudy right now. Is this going to be another one of those movies that is rained out? I am hoping not!

  5. First rule of The Films in Tompkins series showing of "Fight Club" is to never talk or mention that the The Films in Tompkins series is showing "Fight Club".

Eight rule -- if this is your first night at The Films in Tompkins series seeing "fight Club", you HAVE to fight.

Spoiler Alert: Helena Bonham Carter wore platform shoes to be closer in height to Ed Norton.

  6. Forecast looks just about perfect, just bring a sweater and bug spray...

  7. The Harder They Come isn't exactly Frozen either.

Good for not kowtowing to yuppie parents.

  8. Have never been to the TSP movies. Can I bring a low beach chair? Or is a blanket better?

  9. Blanket is better, if you are having a picnic with a few friends; but if there's only you or two of you, low beach chair would be better for better comfort.

  10. Helen Bonham Carter was such a degenerate in this. 'Stealing clothes from the laundromat then selling them to a local no questions asked shady shade thrift clothing store LOL.
