Dojo Izakaya announces itself on Avenue B



Signage is now up at Dojo Izakaya, which the Post described as "a Japanese gastropub."

It is the latest restaurant from chef David Bouhadana, who opened Sushi Dojo in June 2013 on First Avenue.

No word on an opening date here yet.

Cafe Rakka, the previous tenant here at 38 Avenue B near East Third Street, apparently got Cromanated last November.

    I love Japanese food in all varieties, but I made the mistake of reading an interview with this chef. He came off like an extreme douche. Talking about how if people come into his restaurant with a mopey attitude, they can expect a lackluster meal from him. And other such twenty-something know-it-all isms.

    I have eaten at Sushi Dojo multiple times and found the owner and food to be delightful (rest of staff was super serious though). I would be back more often if it wasn't so pricey. But then this kind of thing should be pricey--it's rare fish and highly skilled preparation. If this new place is a more budget friendly version, I will be a regular fan!
