The Met Foods space is now for rent on 3rd Avenue
Earlier this month, we reported that the Met Foods on Third Avenue between East 16th Street and East 17th Street will be closing at a date to-be-determined this spring.
The for rent sign is now up at the space. We didn't spot a listing for it online just yet.
Meanwhile, the mood inside isn't so good. Said EVG reader Harry Weiner, who shared the above photo: "There is a subdued atmosphere of gloom in the store…"

DR is just a few blocks south on 14th and 3rd but that won't stop another one going in here.

ReplyDeleteI don't think Harry has spent much time in the store. There's always "a subdued atmosphere of gloom" in there. Sometimes not so subdued...
ReplyDeleteThis is awful for ordinary people of all ages who actually have to buy groceries and cook at home. But new NY thinking = these people need to leave. Infuriating.
ReplyDeleteI used to live across the street. Worst bread, meat and produce EVER. I bought pita bread here and it had mold the next day.
