2nd Avenue this morning
[Looking south from East 14th Street]
Second Avenue remains closed below East 14th Street while crews continue to work at the site of the fallen buildings at East Seventh Street. Cross streets are open (except for St. Mark's and Seventh Street).

As of 8:15 a.m., or so, the usual Second Avenue businesses were open, such as Veselka, Starbucks, Fresco Gelateria, East Village Meats and Stage. Gem Spa is open, though you need to enter from St. Mark's Place.
It appears that the 13th Step just north of East Ninth Street will be open today. They were getting a Budweiser delivery…
We also hear that the New Yorkers Market (ex Met Foods) at 107 Second Ave. between East Sixth Street and East Seventh Street will be open.

So long as the bros and hos stay lubricated, that's all that really matters. I could hear the firefighters and police getting into it with them drunks last night. Disgusting creatures they are.
ReplyDeleteI can only hope that no sleazy real estate developers are permitted to profit from this tragedy. The city should buy the land and build affordable housing first to house the low income, long term residents of the affected buildings. and then the other apartments should be offered at below market rent to those who need affordable housing. If another glass Whole Foods type monstrosity filled with luxury condos goes up on this site it would be immoral and depraved.
ReplyDelete10:26 can you elaborate? Like these drunk assholes were fighting with police and keeping them from doing their jobs? And what kind of dirtbag argues with FDNY? If this was the case … I swear I will never understand why these people are not ticketed en masse/arrested for public intoxication, public nuisance, disorderly conduct, etc., for any of the Santacons or St. Pat's or random Friday nights, and especially at times like this.

ReplyDeleteWhy?...Why?...Why?
Yes, like 11.51 AM said, can you elaborate 10.26 AM?
ReplyDeleteThey were drunkenly trying to force their way through the blocked off area of Second Avenue and had to be YELLED at by the FDNY and NYPD to stay out of the area knowing they weren't allowed in there.
ReplyDeleteThank you 1.36 PM.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like the idiots who set up the table in the middle of 2nd Avenue at 2am to play beer pong a few months ago, then jumped on it and destroyed it . I'm beyond blaming the parents, it's the entire friggin' gene pool, and this is what inbreeding leads to.: Idiocracy.
ReplyDeleteLike I've said before, the bros govern this entire neighborhood. The rest of us minions are just puppets trying to live our lives in a low key, respectful fashion, who have to placate them in order to survive.
