Yes it's an older guy. I snapped him on 2nd a few days ago eating noodles next to a decimated blue rose. That guy's my new muse.
ReplyDeleteAnon@ 5:11 pm got it right. This guy is not a bro, but an older challenged "eccentric" guy. I live on the block and I've seen him hanging/lounging here for the last couple years.

ReplyDeleteI took the picture with a sense of joy, appreciating and celebrating him. He wasn't a Bro', he was from here, from another time. Rolling around and then laid out in front of Zoltar.
ReplyDeleteWhat ever his situation, he was comfortable in his surroundings and was dressed for show.
This was in the late morning as I was checking out to see if B&H opened yet. There was a policeman stationed in a cushman about 20 feet from him.

If a person is sprawled out on the sidewalk, totally wasted, I don’t care what demo/age the person is, I always call 911 so that the person can get, if required, medical assistance. I am always amazed how many people just walk on by, like that opening scene in “Midnight Cowboy”.

ReplyDeleteCrazy Eddie: I agree with you, but - how many times have you called 911 to report somebody sprawled on the sidewalk? I swear there is ALWAYS somebody doing that 24/7 around here. Just take a 5-minute stroll, you'll find one. And shouldn't we call 911 for ANYBODY sleeping on the street? Since, correct me if I'm wrong here, that is not at all a sane thing to do. Srsly -put a piece of paper in front of anybody with a home and a job that says:

ReplyDeleteI have done so twice this year. In both cases, the location was at the 14th Street and First Ave SE corner, just opposite the McDonalds. As I have posted before, the saddest corner in the EV. Again, in both cases, the person was unconscious and was very close to the street by the 14th street cross town bus stop. The person was in physical danger, could have been stepped on or he could have rolled over into the street. So there.
