ReplyDeleteAs the bike has a gas container it is a fire hazard in addition to being a hazard in case of emergencies. What if someone in bldg needed paramedics or go to the hospital? Worse part of people are their major sense of entitlement as if everyone is just living in their world.
ReplyDeleteI would have understood that there was probably a very good reason he had to put it there, and since it probably has never happened before, I would assume it would never happen again, and I would go about my day not stewing the way some people do who don't even live in the building.

Where is the building's owner and the fire dept.? If I owned the building, the tenant who allowed this would be out on his ass.
ReplyDeleteHappened once years ago in my building. Call the FD. They will not be happy and motorcycle man will be in a heap of trouble. Like the other poster here, it's a fire hazard. A tank of gas in the hallway. The owner of this bike is an idiot

ReplyDeleteJust a note to anyone who's going to be buying a bike or a motorcycle: buy your locks *before* you pick up the bike. Seriously, start researching what you need to lock up your bike *now*.
ReplyDeleteYears ago, a neighbor of mine used to park his bike in the front hall so that it was locked to the bannister of the staircase and partially ascending the stairs—ready for a quick getaway.
ReplyDeleteAt the time, I carried my Swiss Army knife with me, so it was simple to puncture one of the tires as I went by, and eventually he got the message.
I mean, the bike parking the landlord has provided is way out in the courtyard and exposed to the elements, but I don't think anyone should use the stairs as their personal bike [or motorcycle] parking.
Call FDNY and it will be taken care of. Blocking egress AND having gasoline in the hallway - 2 major items that the FDNY will take VERY seriously.
