I love visiting this cemetery unfortunately in recent years people insist on bring their dogs (off leash) and a peaceful place quickly turns into a dog run. Last time a dog chased a child and freak her out, and most of the dogs can't resist pissing on the graves, really can't people have some respect for the dead?
ReplyDeleteMarbleliscious!
ReplyDeleteAnd, YES, NO dogs should be THE rule.
Think about your grandma's headstone gettin' shit and pissed on.....poopy grandma, NOT a pretty thought.
Yes, the amount of unruly off-leash dogs are starting to ruin what is usually one of the nicest events in the neighborhood. Too many of the owners today were not watching their dogs...only leashed dogs should be allowed.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of dogs, this city has so many dogs and dog lovers and people obsessed with their dogs that when just .001% of them (owners or the dogs themselves) misbehave each day it really causes problems for the rest of us folk. I like dogs in general but am just overrun with them nowadays, especially in Chelsea where you can't take a step without stepping on one or something they have left behind on the sidewalk. Or try going to sleep or read a book in peace without have a bark fest outside your window or door. Get on your elevator and the dog has a fit or climbs on your leg. Or the owner with a long leash that hogs the sidewalk while texting and not paying attention that they have blocked the whole walkway off because Fido has wondered to the other side.
ReplyDeleteThis cemetery is not a public park nor a dog run but a private property which the care givers and members generously open a few time per year for the neighborhood to relax in a quite place. Bringing dogs is not the same as bringing you children (which is not a great idea either, kids will get bored quickly) and I know every dog owner thinks their dog is special, very friendly etc... and can't image that anyone could possible object to " Fluffy" sniffing or humping your leg, barking to say hello, run in the grass and pee on someone's grave.... All it will take is once incident with two dogs or one dog snapping at a child and this and the other marble cemetery will stay shut during the year. Dog owners please don't ruin this for others.
ReplyDeleteI love visiting this cemetery too and it's unfortunate more people don't check themselves into it.
