Noted
It was laundry day today in the small dog area in Tompkins Square Park as a dog-less traveler removed his pants to hose them down before rejoining his friends elsewhere in the Park.

He's wearing clean shorts. Carry on.
ReplyDeleteas a dog owner, i have seen this happen more than once. people without dogs are coming in to use the hose and "shower" or in this case do laundry.
ReplyDeleteI am thoroughly in solidarity with that kind of maintenance.
ReplyDeleteGross.
ReplyDeletewhy not? everything else is a free for all, might as well let people strip and hose down their clothing too.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he was sitting in one of grassy areas and sat in someone's dog's shit. Not everyone is vigil about cleaning up after Fido nor can read complex signs like "No Dogs Allowed".
ReplyDeleteThere are so many people who are going into the dog park without dogs these days. It's out of control. I am waiting for one of them to get bit and the inevitable lawsuit.
ReplyDeleteWhatever, anything goes around here. The majority of people in and around this place literally could not tell you the definition of the word propriety. So there you go.
ReplyDeleteOf course there are lots of places for the poor and homeless to get clean and use the bathroom, and please don't force me into those so called shelters.
ReplyDeleteActually there are places one can go.When I needed help I discovered a few places that have showers and laundry. One is the Yorkville Common Pantry on 5th and 109th. I'd tide the train at night and go there early in the morning. The NYC rescue mission has beds and showers and meals. I used to recycle and make $20 and do laundry, buy socks and batteries at Jacks 99c store, buy coffee at McDonalds on A
DeleteThis guy is a lazy junkie who wants to panhandle, get high and have people bring food. How about some pride, dignity and self respect? There are bathrooms all over the city. There are resources. You can avoid the shelters and still rise out of the situation. You have to stop blaming other people or the system. You have to hustle hard and put in the work. NYC has many many resources. They wont come to you. You have to put in the effort. If you do people will be happy to help and assist. Its difficult but it can be done. Or you can waste your life sitting in a park with a needle in your arm. Your choice.
So, was this guy going to put on wet pants ?
ReplyDeleteSit for a few hours until they dry ?
There is no way that park can smell any worse, carry on and clean away!
ReplyDeleteThe city should be setting up hoses for this reason. With 90+ temps all last week i literally threw up trapped between cross streets from the stench of piss, body odor, and the rotting garbage.
ReplyDeletePants in August when you're not out with a girl SMH.
ReplyDeleteAugust is the month you go commando in bio-dri shorts.
To smell them is to love them.
ReplyDeleteAt least they were Skid Free
ReplyDeleteAm I the only person who points out the "No Dogs Without People / No People Without Dogs" sign?
ReplyDeleteMost people tell me to mind my own business, but it is my business if I'm in the dog run—especially if this guy doesn't belong.
Time for park beat cops. All this shit stops with just two of them.
ReplyDeleteWho's Park our Park who needs car 54 after all it is the Dog days of August
ReplyDeleteBeat cops? Sorry Charlie. The city council wants to decriminalize turnstile jumping, public drinking/urination, being in parks after closing etc. This is exactly the type of behavior the cops will be told to ignore. There will be no foot patrols in the park. The NYPD is going to pull back and simply respond to 911 calls like they did pre Giuliani. The days of an aggressive, proactive NYPD are coming to an end. That's one big reason Bratton is finished with law enforcement. The old days people pine for are coming back. Except there wont be any rent reduction. Just a vast increase what used to be called quality of life crimes. Except now they wont be considered crimes anymore.
