  2. That's going to be so confusing - you wanna bagel? Go to Tompkins Square. No, it's up that way, not over there. That's the park, not the store.

  3. Square bagels. Meh. They taste the same as the round kind.

  4. Why are bagel stores so in vogue lately? The is a nutritionally bankrupt food item.

  5. Hey, if 9th Street Espresso can exist on 10th Street then TSB can exist on 2nd Ave. YUM!

  6. And the Second Avenue Deli is on 33rd Street between 3rd and Lex, so TSB is just continuing in the proud tradition of confusing the masses!

they moved to 11th street when thenursey school (downtown communty) that was there, left.

  9. Within the last twelve months we've gotten Black Seed, Bagel Belly, the revived Ess-a-Bagel and now TSB II. That's a lot of bagel action.

  10. 1:28 PM: What about Whole Grain bagels? I prefer the nutritionally bankrupt ones, but my wife won't let me eat bagels except with sable, salmon, herring, and whitefish salad from Russ & Daughters, which we don't eat every day...

  11. If you haven't been to TSB you should check it out. They are essentially a breakfast restaurant with a bagel oven. Every sort of egg plate. Great tuna and whitefish salads. A lot of vegan options as well. Pumpkin or Almond butter on a multigrain does me right. It ain't a kale salad but it's nice middle ground.

  13. Anon - I would go if they didn't bullshit me about toasting "OK we will toast it" (must be in the toaster for 5 seconds, you can't even notice the taste change).
And all the corny ass post-college types that swarm it and make me sick because for some reason they appeal to them.

  14. We definitely stressed out over what to call this store. However, like The Bean, and 9th Street Espresso, Tompkins Square Bagels is a brand, and Chris has built a really good one. There are now just two locations, one on Ave A and one on 2nd Ave, so referring to them as such is really not hard; certainly not as confusing as 2nd Ave Deli which is actually on... 33rd Street.

Can't wait to see everyone there!
