It now seems like Thanksgiving with the Thanksgiving Special at the Odessa
I was getting worried that, perhaps, the Odessa at 119 Avenue A between Seventh Street and St. Mark's Place was not going to offer its annual Thanksgiving Special this year. But! Signage finally went up on Sunday. (Last year, for instance, the sign arrived one whole week before Thanksgiving.)
The complete dinner price remains the same as in recent years — $18.95. (Management bumped it from $15.95 to $18.95 for Thanksgiving 2014.)
As always, I am thankful for the Odessa's homemade sign. And where do they store it year round?

They are rude and therefore I do not eat there anymore. Lots of better places. I was a long time customer.
ReplyDeleteI you haven't been in more than a few rude diners then you're probably not a New Yorker. Thank goodness we still have a few places like Odessa, itls much more comfy than Veselka which is a crowded noise riot most nights.
ReplyDeleteUh, they store it in the basement of the Alamo.
ReplyDeleteI love Odessa
ReplyDeleteI love Dennis
I love their Thanksgiving Dinner! It's so yummy!
Long live ODESSA!!!!!!!!!!!
Hooray for Odessa!!!
DeleteThey have the BEST cream of turkey soup.
ReplyDeleteMy standards are a bit higher. Nostalgia is nice rudeness intolerable.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Goggla. Don't like turkey but I love this soup, go figure. Still miss Dark Odessa tho...
ReplyDeletebest thanksgiving meal and deal in manhattan. thanks evgreive!
ReplyDeleteHey 11:57am I go to at least five diners and have never been treated rudely at any of them, so I guess that makes you someone who should STFU about what makes someone a "New Yorker". Btw the diners are Cozy Soup 'N' Burger, Hector's Diner, Star On 18, Waverly Restaurant, and Washington Square Diner. All run by courteous people and around before I was born save CSAB which opened the year I was born (and even they might've opened before I was born if they opened before my birthday.)
ReplyDeleteRudeness is not cool or acceptable no matter where you are. If I come to your business and you are rude to me, I will leave before you even take my order and if you are rude to me after I dig into my food, I'm talking to the manager and not leaving a tip. If the manager is rude I'll tell him to go fuck himself, too. THAT'S a "New Yorker."
@11:18 I hope you have something to be thankful for tomorrow because you seem to be filled with nothing but hate. Happy Thanksgiving EVG! :)
ReplyDeleteI have had at least 5-10 Thanksgiving dinners here, and the cream of turkey soup is amazing. They do actually have it on Sunday nights as well, but they do not put it on the menu, only those in the know can get it. The same with grits in the morning, if you get there before they run out then you can order grits. Of course, I can't guarantee either of these things, as it's been a couple years since I have ordered the grits, and maybe a year and a half on the cream of turkey soup.
ReplyDeleteOne year they did raise the price to either 21.95 or 24.95, but have since reduced it. And I agree, Dennis is great!
