ReplyDelete@9:38AM this is a spirit that we all need to share. We need to come together once and for all and put all our differences aside and just try to see ourselves in each other's eyes and find tolerance for all people in our hearts. Of course we can't extend this to the Drumpfler youth or most people living north south east or west of NYC because that would just be stupid and they've made their choice to be on the wrong side of history and good luck with that.
ReplyDeleteSo many EV regulars were lost this year, and sadly we also just lost Wayne Sawyer, aka Joey Zero, who hosted a late night punk rock music show on Public Access TV called Time Takes A Cigarette. Wayne was a regular at CBGBs. He was 61.

Oh man, I remember that access show, it was the bomb. The best name, too, Time Takes a Cigarette, thanks for turning us on to who was responsible for that. RIP Wayne Sawyer.

ReplyDeleteI knew Wayne Sawyer, aka Joey Zero, he was quite a character. He seemed to know everyone in the music business, including members of The Ramones, who he adored. I always used to see his public access TV show while channel surfing at 2 in the morning, and he had a blast doing ithe show and hanging out will all the musicians. There are still clips of his show up on YouTube. Wayne was not that old but had some health problems, and I was always telling him to stop smoking, which he promised he would, but never did. Time Takes A Cigarette. Rest in Peace, Wayne.
