[Updated] At the Women's March on NYC

EVG correspondent Steven shares a few photos from along the Women's March on NYC route this afternoon...

Crowd estimates in NYC are at 200,000400,000-plus (see below) ... the route stretches from 47th Street and Second Avenue to the Trump Tower. There are reportedly hundreds of other marches in cities across the world ... "to march in support of equality and promote civil rights for every human."

  4. The march was great; latest estimates from the mayor's office put the number of attendees at over 400,000, which I fully believe. I took us almost 3 hours to get from 2nd and 51st down to 47th to join the official march route, because the crowds were so yuuuuge. Now let's work to translate this energy into power, so that the movement does not fall apart like Occupy.

  5. What's the difference between Donald Trump and an ugly rug?
One of them lies like a rug, while the other one is just an ugly rug.

  6. I love Donnie. There's something hot and powerful about him. Go Trump!

  7. If just 75% of the people who voted for Clinton on Election Day voted Democrat for both houses of Congress in the midterm election on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, the Democrats would control both houses of Congress thus neutralize Trump who might as well resign as he would be done (since none of his dangerous plans would get done.)

People (myself included) need to get off their asses and vote against ALL Republican congresspeople on 11/6/18 starting at 6am ET in NYC, no excuses!

11/6/18 needs to be considered like a second chance to oust Trump, only this time to oust his power. 'Time Democrats obstructed what Republicans want to do.

  8. Those vulgar signs and obscene messages really only way to make a point. A good thing for children to see and a good example of how to articulate a message for them. We shall over come works nicely or Trump your politics are so far right they are wrong, Goodness must confront evil...you get the point. If you want to shame the man you do not use his vocabulary to do it. Keep it classy..New York

  10. Anon 3:20 -YES! We need to get more people to vote in the midterms or we'll never recapture the house. However, I am concerned that voting restrictions will intensify now under Trump, so improving voter turnout, especially in underprivileged communities where not all may have a government ID, and where polling sites get cut by local Republicans, will be very hard.

You're right to worry about new voting restrictions. But what the Democratic left did in the last 8 eight years is to forget the middle class blue collar worker(men and women). Remember Obama dismissed them as those people who believe in God and guns. Well they voted Republican and changed our world. And if I'm not mistaken HClinton split the Women's vote... So unless the Democrats become more inclusive, this will be the beginning of an 8 year run. UGH!

  12. The Obama speech about clinging to guns and the Bible was reaching out to rust belt type voters, but it was too adult for the media to accurately report.

And Hillary Clinton "split" the female vote by winning it by 12 points.

    > So unless the Democrats become more inclusive, this will be the beginning of an 8 year run.

Spot on. Except Obama or Clinton aren't "left" anywhere except in the right wing echo chamber. The center-right of Obama and Clinton better stop dismissing economic concerns and the actual left better accept that straight white people can be in the discussion. Or else the incoming post-Trump theocracy will crush what gains we've made with gender and racial civil rights.

  14. @9:12am: Well, that means there's more than 18 months in which activists could work to help people GET THEIR GOVERNMENT/VOTER ID.

Women of color are part of the split she won by 12%. But she didn't win the white women's vote. And that was the problem.

  16. I am not a fan of Trump. In fact, I detest him. He makes my stomach churn and my eyes water. I understand those who want to express and lament their anger, rage, sadness and, disappointment in these marches. I think positive changes can and will come out of this unfortunate presidency. We can rise in our darkest hours and fight until we see an end in sight. I just don't think using vulgarity captures insight or poise. Remember what Michelle said? When they go lower, we go higher. Writing the words dick and/or pussy on large cards do nothing but demonstrate lack of class and taste.

  18. 3:20pm back here.

BS, 11:49pm. Trump was not inclusive, he just fed on the worst of America who bought him. Democrats were entirely in touch with working people by wanting an increase in the national minimum wage for them which Trump does not want, and if he wants one he won't give a number, and if he gave one, trust me, it would be far lower than the 10.10 an hour Clinton proposed. Republicans don't give a shit about the working person - never did and never will e.g. John Kasich who just signed a bill preventing any Ohio municipality from VOTING on a minimum wage increase. So he won't even allow the people to decide.

    Re: voter ID restrictions:

    https://dmv.ny.gov/id-card/bget-non-driver-id-card-ndid

    https://dmv.ny.gov/driver-license/prove-identity-age-permitlicense

Basically you need a birth certificate for proof of birth, a Social Security card, and 4 points worth of more proof of identity.

I'd say the easiest path to the 4 points is an atm card or credit card with your pre-printed name and signature for 1 point, a highschool diploma or GED for 1 point, a utility bill with your name and address for 1 point, and a W-2 form for 1 point.

A welfare/Medicaid/foodstamp card with photo is 3 points, without photo 2.

If you're under 21 and you wanna get a non-driver ID card, you have to bring a parent, your birth certificate, and your social security card to the DMV and your parent has to bring his or her driver's license, learner permit, or non-driver ID card to show proof of identity.

  19. The Women's March was a great idea. However the idea was lost in ambiguity. There was no clear statement of their cause and it was muddled by too many causes carrying their own flag. If it was to support women's rights as human rights, then it should have just been a March for Human Rights....period. It lacked clarity of message, even thought it did not lack clarity of discontent or the solidarity of disappointed and still crying the liberal and in some small way, radical portion of the now disavowed former populist party Democrats. So this march was group therapy essentially for the disenchanted, frustrated, disappointed and perhaps somewhat disillusioned who are unable to admit, deal with and handle the defeat of a woman for POTUS. We would love to see a woman take over the Oval Office...the right woman. Perhaps next time the Democrats will be able to find the right woman who has values, honesty, integrity, commitment and intelligence to fill that seat. Wearing something other than different colored Uncle Fester outfits every day might be of some help as well.
Women should unite. If women ran the world it would be such a better place for all of us to live in...yes I am male.

  20. Clinton had values, honesty, integrity, commitment, and intelligence. 'Love how you buy the media lies about her.

Bottom line is she was the better. more qualified candidate - it's called almost three million more votes than Trump who stole the election from her with help from Russia, the FBI, and enough kneejerk, ill-informed dipshits from PA, MI, and WI who voted for her and didn't vote.

These marches consisted of all kinds of people, so spare us the "it was all rebels" crap. Alot of it was buyer's remorse. Okay, well, again, vote Democrat on 11/6/18 or STFU until 11/3/20.

  21. "Perhaps next time the Democrats will be able to find the right woman who has values, honesty, integrity, commitment and intelligence to fill that seat"

That woman was Elizabeth Warren. I saw it in interviews when the question of running for pres. was asked to her and she always looked like she was clenching her teeth when she declined. She had the same energy Obama had when he in the senate.

But it was Hillary's turn, no matter what, and here we are.

Great protest though, even if it was group therapy.
