Reader report: In case your packages were a little wet this evening

An EVG reader shared this from earlier this evening in Stuy Town...

I saw a bunch of Amazon.com and Jet.com packages sitting on the sidewalk in the rain. They are drenched.

There wasn't any sign of the delivery people.

Are they off delivering other packages and maybe they plan to come back for these? I don't know! It's not a great move given that everything is soaked. Meanwhile, stuff could be stolen.

  1. Why are all of these delivery people all over Stuy Town all of the time anyway? Stuy Town = Walmart Parking Lot.

  3. This happens ALL THE TIME. If this were the 70s or 80s, they'd all be gone without this kind of publicity.

  4. There was a cart of packages (FedEx, UPS, Amazon) sitting at the entrance to Tompkins Square Park on Ave A & St Marks last week. No delivery person anywhere to be seen and there are no buildings on that side of the street. I wondered if maybe the delivery person was using the bathroom in the park, but then why leave the cart so far away? Anyway, package delivery in the EV is so bad, I have my items sent to my place of work.

  5. City Council Member Dan Garodnick’s office contacted Amazon about the packages being misdelivered in Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village. EV residents' packages are sometimes among those delivered to Stuyvesant Town before being picked up by last-mile delivery services. To identify the carrier(s) responsible, Amazon needs the tracking ID. Dan has asked the following:
    • If you see a misdelivered package, please take a photo and send it to Garodnick@council.nyc.gov
    • If you already have such a photo, send it to Garodnick@council.nyc.gov
    • If one of your packages was misdelivered, send the tracking number to Garodnick@council.nyc.gov

  6. The delivery guys don't care. If something gets stolen, the receiver complains to the shipper and the delivery company covers the cost with their insurance.

  7. They don't give a shit. Fucking headache with them always leaving packages in my vestibule that disappear.

  8. They also buzz random buzzers and get into the building from whatever idiot lets them in, just like the robber does.

  9. I passed a huge pile of unattended packages on east 4th street between 2nd and Bowery during the rain yesterday afternoon at around 4pm.
