Happy St. Patrick's Day from McSorley's
The line started forming around 7 a.m. for the 8 a.m. opening bell today at McSorley's ...
EVG line correspondent Steven shared these photos... perhaps the colder-than-usual temps for March 17 kept the line a little shorter than in previous years here on Seventh Street...
...and at 8 a.m. ...
The bar quickly filled up...

Oh, those skimpily filled McSorley's mugs - you have to buy two to get almost one.
ReplyDeleteBeing of partial Irish descent (which I am proud of) cringe when I see what spills onto the streets later in the day.
ReplyDelete@10:56 yeah I don't think it's fair dogs get to wee on the sidewalk and I don't but thems the breaks!
ReplyDeletei love this holiday, like NYE and halloween (weekend) so fun to hide out, catch up on some movies and order in indian food. stay safe all.
ReplyDeletePeople who wait on line in the cold at 7am so they can start drinking at 8am. I think there's a word that characterizes that.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I wonder if these guys are each using a vacation day, or just called in "sick" to work?
First time in McSorley's... my friend ordered 8 then turned to me and asked me what I wanted. He could carry 4 in each hand, being a novice 2 was a stretch. And they were heavy. The mug was mostly glass and little beer. The bottom was a least 3 inches thick
ReplyDeleteThe total, utter hypocrisy of EV comments is laughable.
ReplyDeleteSantacon (which I can't stand) bad, people lining up in front of McSorley's at 7-8am good and not feeding into the Santacon cult.
Santacon bad, people brandishing rifles on the street illegally as New York is neither open carry nor concealed carry (or concealed carry in extreme cases) like McSorley's patrons good.
McSorley's gets a pass, besides welcoming Santaconners.

I've never seen guns at either event.
Not a woman (patron) in sight.
ReplyDeleteThe McSorleys Militia or whatever they call it....do not have guns (firearms) in the eyes of the law. They are muzzle loading single shot muskets. Therefore by law, not a gun but a relic. Just FYI
ReplyDelete@801PM - second to last photo there are three in plain sight. Maybe if you weren't so busy grinding your ax ...
