And yesterday afternoon, the Pourhouse started spreading word of their closure...
The sports bar opened in the summer of 2006. No word on the fate of their phone number — (212) 979-BEER.
A rock club called E.Vil is expected to open in the space this spring.
I'm going to miss this place like I'm going to miss the place that's replacing this place.
ReplyDeleteGood riddance to bad rubbish. And to the incoming E.Vil - I know you think you're bein' all cool and edgy with that Grinning Skull and Crossed Guitars logo (I can only imagine the high fives all around when someone came up with that clever, clever name), but you're basically just going to be a Times Square tourist joint that somehow wound up on Third Avenue. Congratulations.
ReplyDelete@Gojira: You are correct!
ReplyDeleteThe fact that this place annoyed people and that the place that's replacing this place will continue to annoy people (mostly the regulars here) makes it all the more enjoyable.
ReplyDeleteGood bye with no regrets.
ReplyDeleteOne wonders if douchebars like this which was unfortunately thriving, then what type of business will last long in the EVill?
ReplyDeleteBring back Bargain Spot!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't describe this place as iconic as they do. It had a 10 year run, which is the blink of an eye in NYC, and it never caught on with locals. It was all NYU students getting wasted and harassing passerby.
