An EVG reader passes along a gridlock alert for drivers, passengers and crosstown bus passengers (well, anyone) on 14th Street ... there is the Second Avenue Street Festival going on until 5 p.m. today, which is causing some gridlock action as the top photo shows.
Oh, and the L is down for the weekend. (2019 preview!)

As for the Street Festival, there is a better-than-usual selection of street meat...
...and beware of the lousy Beyonce bootlegs...

Besides the smell of rancid cat and any other creature they could catch, skin, chop and fry, music has been added to the festival - Debbie fingernails with backup by the Slateboards. God, it can't get any worse. Ok I can't say that. There's always next time.
ReplyDeleteNo comment. Le sigh.
ReplyDeleteWho says the MTA doesn't have a sense of humor? The subway station announcement said that L train users should take the M14.
ReplyDelete"Urban Lobster"...uh, no.
ReplyDeleteNow remember, everyone:
ReplyDeleteBlow your horns continuously and curse profusely. Science (tm) shows that this always resolves traffic jams.
The neighbors also enjoy the sound.

But...funnel cakes!
ReplyDeleteAll is forgiven!

Why isn't there a shuttle bus for the compromised L service? Is this truly a preview of the coming shutdown? I shudder to think…

Yeah, dredged from the bottom of the East River.
What, no tube socks?
ReplyDeleteTo all of the snide comments here....stop it. I will say....stop being such a grouch. As an EV resident, who was here before the street fair ever started, I see no issue here. People come out and have a good time for 6-7 hours. To eat, shop, enjoy the sunshine, some music and whatever else people do when there is a respite from the usual chaos of NYC.
ReplyDeleteThe food vendors are greatly improved with greater variety. Gone are the says when the only food you could get were those wonderful Italian Sausage heroes, which are still there as well. Granted $15 for a Lobster Roll from a truck is exorbitant, but why not? Want some roasted corn? You got it. Thai, Japanese, Mexican, Greek......all there for your culinary delight.
So stop bellyaching about a bit of noise or some extra visitors to our already overcrowded neighborhood. At least these visitors came to eat and enjoy, unless the night time crowd that comes to scream obscenities, get into physical altercations, drink to excess and vomit in our doorways.
