As a reminder, the 9th Precinct Community Council meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. So that would be tomorrow (May 16!).
The meetings take place at the 9th Precinct, 321 E. Fifth St. between First Avenue and Second Avenue.
This is an opportunity for residents to address any concerns (noise complaints?) and ask 9th Precinct officials for their input on recent crime statistics.
If you're planning ahead, then note that the Community Council does not meet in July and August, per Neil Barsky, Council president.
When y'all gonna crack down on illegal motor vehicles like e-powered bikes and scooters and now skateboards? Or am I free to put a motor on any kind of silly homemade contraption and ride it wherever I want? We are like a kooky third-world country now with all these little motors zipping around every which way.
ReplyDeleteYeah, yeah I know. Save it for the council meeting.
And to ask about he truck driver who killed the cyclist last month.
ReplyDeleteWhen are you gonna make it so we can actually contact you besides outside this meeting? It's like call 911 in an emergency otherwise you're shit out of luck. What the fuck kind of police department is that?

As the previous poster noted, there are plenty of ways to get in touch with the local precinct. Get off the computer, and walk your ass over there! The community council meeting isn't the only means of reaching them.
ReplyDeleteThere was just a good amount of e-bikes seized by the NYPD and people were complaining that they took the bikes. Damned if they do, damned if they don't.
ReplyDeleteI've called the 9th precinct numerous times, no one picks up the phone.
ReplyDeleteSo yeah technically you can call, as long as you're fine with no response.
If you want to reach the 9th Precinct by phone you have to call the red Batphone line and ask for Commissioner Gordon. Otherwise forget about it.
DeleteHey 4:54pm (wiseass) we live in 2017.
ReplyDeleteIn 2017 we text and email, so we should be able to text and email them, too.
'Cool people can message them on Facebook and Twitter but text and email are better. I see a crime in progress, I text and/or email them before I call 911 so two or three message receivers get the message. No way they can say I contacted them at 10:25pm when I contacted them at 9:45pm cuz text, email, and cellphone timestamps don't lie.
I went to the meeting last night. For anyone interested in an update on the Kelly Hurley investigation (she was the cyclist killed on 9th Street and First Avenue by the box truck driver who made an illegal turn across four lanes of traffic to save himself a few minutes), the cops say they turned over the results of their investigation to the DAs office, and now it is up to the DA whether or not the driver will be charged with anything. Last month, there were a lot of people at the meeting demanding pressing the cops to do something. We all need to put pressure on the DA to do something now.
ReplyDeleteWhere can we contact this DA? Email?
ReplyDeleteFour lanes of traffic...that motherfucker should be charged with at least negligent vehicular homicide if there is such a charge and be banned from driving a vehicle for life.
