At the 2017 Drag March
The annual Drag March departed Tompkins Square Park this evening for the walk to the Stonewall Inn.
Participants tonight were asked to remember Gilbert Baker, the creator of the Rainbow Flag and co-founder of the Drag March in 1994 (with Brian Griffin aka Harmonie Moore Must Die).

Your remarks and lively debates are welcome, whether supportive or critical of the views herein. Your articulate, well-informed remarks that are relevant to an article are welcome.
However, commentary that is intended to "flame" or attack, that contains violence, racist comments and potential libel will not be published. Facts are helpful.
If you'd like to make personal attacks and libelous claims against people and businesses, then you may do so on your own social media accounts. Also, comments predicting when a new business will close ("I give it six weeks") will not be approved.
To borrow a corny slogan "Taste the rainbow!" If we could just bottle up and drop all the combined courage of these gorgeous androgynes in one big sparkly glitter bomb ball all over places like Syria and Iran -- and for that matter, misogynistic blue collar America -- we'd be that much closer to a safer, more tolerant society.
ReplyDeleteThe future has no gender. Who can really appreciate the wisdom and prophecy in that t-shirt? Only in the elimination of differences will we ever have peace. It won't be easy and might not be pretty but the ends more than justify the means if the human race is to survive.
Sad I missed this! #sad
ReplyDeleteEveryone looks beautiful and those are best smiles I've seen in ages! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite event during all of Pride month!!! It feels so much more authentic than the big parade on Sunday. No corporate floats just lots of queers.
