Opossum where art thou?
The (an?) opossum was spotted traipsing around Tompkins Square Park again today... (this time without a plastic bag) ... Steven shared these photos...
... while EVG regular Cheyenne passed along these shots...
To date, the opossum doesn't have a name/branding/Instagram presence. Found a website that generates opossum names...
Other favorites so far from the generator have been Rasta Jenny Ju, Nicodemus Punch Sugarpop and Parachute ChingChing Yanoonoo.

How about Rafael. Or Jared. That critter has almost the same facial features of those predatory slumlords
ReplyDeleteThe generator gave me these gems-
Nurget Anre' Mopsy
Bootsie Magnum Salem (Bootsie might suffice)
Freddie Keebler Whip (Keebler might be apt going by the tree photos)
Setchwayo Leroy Snickerdoodle
and Whitie Michael Chico (Whitie sounds good)
This works more like a Captain Beefheart song title generator.
Opie?
ReplyDeleteSo Cuuuute !
ReplyDeleteWonder if someone dumped him or
how he traveled here.
Glad he made a home.
Hope this cute little guy doesn’t have rabies? A close up view of the pics shows a lot of rashes in the back? Anyway, yeah glad it found a cozy den in the park
ReplyDeleteagain, - Rudolph! (the red nosed opposum)
ReplyDeletewhy not steve? i said to call him steve since the first time reported. he looks groovy!!

ReplyDeleteWhat did this innocent minding his own business opossum
do to deserve such names ?
BTW Opie is cute, I can see him/her as an Opie ( Dec 20, 10 pm ).
With the mohawk and the snarly look, could be the reincarnation of Sid Vicious. So, Sid?
ReplyDeleteIf there were bigger raptors in TSPark, there would no opossum there. I am talking great horned owl, or something that size. The opossum is way too big for the resident red tailed hawks to catch.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable critter! Who could think of naming him after some of the real estate scum that pollute this city?!? I opt for Opie.
ReplyDeleteSweet little treehouse he's got there.
ReplyDeleteLet’s name him Punk. Punk the EV possum
ReplyDeleteLet's name him DeBlasio!!! Pretending to be asleep when you are supposed to be awake.
ReplyDeleteHow do we get one for Stuyvesant Square Park?
I love Parachute ChingChing Yanoonoo!
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord, there is an Opossum Name Generator.
ReplyDeleteSometimes humans are allright.

Looks like I have been shamed here. #ohwell. I'm used to comparing slimy people to rodents and critters. I didn't think people would get so taken with it. all apologies. I still hate raccoons though.
Opie probably would be best and he resembles the shock jock too. Or maybe Opus like the penguin, or Oppenheimer. Or maybe Travis Bickle considering the mohawk. Maybe David after the recently departed Mr. Peel?
the de Faustio suggestion gets thumbs up. Maybe this possum was a trade off with Iowa?
