Taco Bell nearly ready for Taco Belling on 1st Avenue
Heading north for a second... where the Taco Bell is looking nearly ready to start serving up its specialties like the Chalupa Supreme® and XXL Grilled Stuft Burrito here on First Avenue near 18th Street ... next to the Ponce De Leon Federal Bank (if that helps place it) ...
It will be opening soon, per the signage... with generous hours of 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. every day except Sunday, when it doesn't open until 8 a.m. (and closes at midnight) ....
This is one of 50 locations (no kidding) that Taco Bell plans to open in NYC in the next five years. (There's also one coming to 647 Broadway near Bleecker that will serve alcohol.)
For nearly 25 years the First Avenue address was the Adriatic until its sudden closure in 2015. Visana, a problematic pizzeria-speakeasy combo, closed down last summer, as Town & Village detailed.

ReplyDeleteI went into the Taco Bell on 3rd several years ago just to see what American considers to be Mexican cuisine. I have to say whatever they make I would not consider it actual food. This has got to be the most processed, artificial substance sold sold in a paper wrapper in the world. Corporate headquarters must see NYC as ripe for the picking since tourists will make it work for the chain. I hope they are wrong.

ReplyDeleteThe amazing thing is that Taco Bells burritos are healthier than Chipotle’s, which are supposed to be healthier for you but definitely are not. While an average Chipotle burrito is twice the size of Taco Bell's, it has nearly five times as much cholesterol. It has 36 grams of fat compared to Taco Bell burrito's 16 grams. An average 865-calorie Chipotle burrito weighs 13 ounces, compared to the 420-calorie, 8.5-ounce Taco Bell burrito. And Taco Bell’s prices are lower. While neither of these two chains are necessarily healthy, I haven’t been to Chipotle since they had their food poisoning problems, because food poisoning is where I draw the line,, but I will go to Taco Bell for the occasional treat, and at least they don't BS you like Chipotle does by telling you they're selling you healthy food.

ReplyDeleteFirst Ave between 14th and 23rd sucks pretty bad. Now it sucks more.
ReplyDeleteBeen to chipolte a few times but hate that everything but the cheese and sour cream have raw onions in it. Taco Bell is bad frozen food shipped from a warehouse in Ohio I believe. None of this stuff should be eaten more than once per month if that often. Pack a lunch or get poisoned I say.

ReplyDeleteTheir bean burritos are not nearly as filling as Chipotle and they only cost 2 bucks. I remember the 3rd Avenue Taco Bell which was sketchy at best, but it was nowhere near their Rikers Island lunchroom version on 14th Street. This one looks much nicer. Get late at The Bell.
