The boozy Taco Bell on Broadway doesn't appear to be happening



Last fall, Taco Bell announced that it was opening a slew of outposts in the city, including a booze-serving Bell at 647 Broadway near Bleecker.

There hadn't been any activity at the former ZiGi Shoes space... and now a for rent sign has arrived on the storefront.

TB refers reportedly refers to these outposts as cantinas, which "boast flashy millennial-baiting features like digital menu boards, digital queues, open kitchens, and shareable tapas-style menus," per Eater. Popular cantina drink menu items include "Twisted Freezes" — a slushy-like, uh, slush that mixes flavors like margarita, piña colada, lemonade and cherry blue raspberry with tequila, rum, vodka, whiskey or spiced rum.

The cantina on the Bushwick/Bed-Stuy border — announced at the same time as the Broadway locale — is reportedly awaiting its liquor license.

    This is absolutely, positively ridiculous. Just open a regular ol' Taco Bell ferchrissakes. It's Taco Bell. If people want to booze it up they can buy their booze at good ol' reliable 24-7 pre-1990 Han's Deli next door to this no longer opening TB.

    What's even more ridiculous is there's only TWO Taco Bells in Manhattan below Penn Station. Open one on Bleecker Street, Sixth Avenue, Seventh Avenue, or Broadway below 14th Street as it is a pain in the ass to go to the one on 14th.

    No need to go to the Rikers Island cafeteria version of Taco Bell on 14th St anymore. Theres a new Taco Bell across the street from Stuy Town, near 19th St and 1st Ave. and they are opening 50 more locations in NYC, so with all the students around, the EV will no doubt get its share of them. When even Taco Bell can’t make a go of it on the Bowery, something is seriously wrong with that area.

    Taco Bell is going to meet the same fate as Subway did. People here don't want to eat that fast food nonsense.
