For those that doubted it, the East Village is being demolished one block at a time for luxury housing. Stop voting for politicians who work against your interest or start thinking about moving to Detroit.
Our pols are political hacks. They exist for the party not the people. It's the failt of the voters who mindlessly pull the Dem lever primary after primary, general election after general election. And inbetween we don't ho;d their feet to the fire. In a better world a recall petition would be circulated to remove ReZone Rivera from office... but she has a job for life because she's more loyal to the party than to the EV community. @12:27pm: Can you clarify exactly how we can figure out who is lying to us BEFORE we vote for them? Rivera talked a good talk, then turned tail when the vote was taken. De Blasio talked a good talk, and has turned out to be one of the most useless politicians on the face of the earth (which is saying something).
I do research before I vote. I inform myself to the best of my ability about who's running, what their background is - basically, what can I "know" about them in advance. I do NOT mindlessly vote for the Democrat. But NONE of it makes a difference, as far as I can tell.
NYC is apparently a HUGE piggy-bank, just here for the taking. And they ARE taking it!
PS: "3E3" - wow, did they have a team working overtime to develop that name?
At this point in NYC history if a candidate is running on the Dem line they are lying... Cynical? But still sad.
@4:37pm: So we should just vote Republican or Independent, b/c that'll definitely give us better results? I don't think so!
At this point I believe some of the Dem politicos did have good intentions regarding housing for regular people, but once they are confronted with the enormity of the real estate lobby influence, the largest political contributor in all NY state, they cave.
This new boring piece of overpriced glass box is another prime example of the present day EV experience artist sells his small studio and residence building that used to take in artist lodgers on the top floor, and they put in cheap, boring architecture for the monied masses.
