Aug. 25
JUST four months from today to Christmas... apparently someone couldn't wait the rest of summer and fall, and decided to dump his or her tree from, presumably, 2018 outside the Starbucks on First Avenue at Third Street.
Thanks to Suke Born Loose for the photo!

Sadly, many of these trees are probably the byproduct of someone else’s tragedy, of a sudden hospitalization, illness, depression, a death or dementia. Perhaps they were just too old and overwhelmed to deal with it anymore. Whenever I see these trees this time of year, I think about someone who didn’t have any friends or family to help take care of them, and to help them to get rid of a major fire hazard, I think of all the lonely people who are as abandoned as the trees we see lying in the street.

ReplyDeleteThat's so true, Giovanni. Well said.
ReplyDeleteGiovanni, I never thought of it that way.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I did know a woman who, even in her 30's (with a job, friends and good health) left her tree up until nearly Easter every year.
