The sunflowers on the Bowery
We've been watching these sunflower plants grow this summer on the Bowery between Bond and Great Jones... not sure who has been tending to them, but thank you...

I've been seeing sunflowers ,corn and squash all over the place. Makes me happy seeing these plants thriving where you wouldn't expect them to.
ReplyDeletea small miracle in the City - the idiots haven't destroyed them!
ReplyDeleteNice to see this. A few years ago Jay from E 3rd St planted a sunflower in a tree planter and some drunk guy deliberately destroyed it only a few weeks after it was planted.
ReplyDeleteI talked to the guy looking after them this morning. He said at one stage they were growing 3 inches per day. They are pretty amazing.
ReplyDeleteSurvived bums, bros, and squirrels. What's even more amazing is that some old EV hippie hasn't munched away all the seed pods.
