Leaves everywhere



Goggla shared the top photo this morning from Tompkins Square Park.

"Looks like the gingkos dropped their leaves last night before they had a chance to turn yellow," she said. "The park and neighborhood were carpeted with green this morning."

Indeed, Derek Berg noted the leaves on sidewalks from Fourth Street to Seventh Street after last night's deep freeze...

    I have never smelled the stink! Is it a genetic trait, like being repulsed by the smell of cilantro?

    I do find the smell of boxwoods repulsive, but never heard of anyone else reacting the same.

    I have never noticed any odor from the ginkgo leaves themselves. The fleshy seeds smashed on the ground from being trodden on, on the other hand . . . !

    I'm glad people got pictures of this. I walk on 10th St. to work and couldn't believe every block was covered in leaves all at once. It was beautiful and kinda slick.

    Yes it is the seeds / pods. But they are there, all over the ground with the leaves as well.
    So..... STINK IT UP!
