Sally Beauty coming to 14th Street
Signage is up for Sally Beauty, the new retail tenant coming to 524 E. 14th St. between Avenue A and Avenue B...
This is in one of the retail spaces of the Extell-developed residential complex called EVGB (the East! Village's! Greatest! Building!).
Per the brand's website: "Sally Beauty is the world's largest retailer of salon-quality hair color, hair care, nails, salon, and beauty supplies."
The global chain started with a single shop in New Orleans in 1964.
Sally Beauty will join next-door neighbor Bright Horizons, the nationwide child-care provider.
There's still one more storefront for lease at No. 524. There's also retail space in the other part of this development at 500 E. 14th St., adjacent to where Target opened in EVGB's corner spot at Avenue A in the summer of 2018...
H/T Upper West Sider!

I don't get it. Ricky's, which also sells salon-quality hair and beauty products, isn't doing well, yet here we are with another retailer selling the same wares (and likely higher prices). Ricky's at least had a personality and felt like it belonged in the neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteSimilar thing happened when Surprise Surprise was replaced by another kitchenware store selling higher priced merchandise. And now that place has downsized.
Thank you Lord. Sally is way cheaper than Ricky's and they have a variety of stuff. Yay!!!
ReplyDeleteRickys was notorious for selling diverted products. Sally's works directly with manufacturers and distributors to sell products. They are part of a larger company, BSG. Sally's is like the Kmart of distributors. They sell reasonably priced midmarket products. They used to sell to Hairdresser's only. They now have another division that sells to Hairdresser's only.
