Nice to see Mike Davis, owner of Academy Records, back inside the shop here at 415 E. 12th St. between Avenue A and First Avenue. (Thanks to Lola SaƩnz for the photos!)
While Academy is not open just yet, they are buying records again. You can call (212) 780-9166 to make an appointment...

Great cover by Bowie of The Merseys Sorrow on Pin Ups. Innovative genius that he was he substituted the original horn section with a sax solo and made the song his own.............."with your long blond hair I couldn't sleep last night".........
As a senior copywriter at RCA Records, I wrote the ads for David’s first four records, up tp this one, often working together with him, which was utterly cool. Anyway, the department put together a ten-second TV spot for this one, which had a sparkling animated tear running down Twiggy’s cheek and back up again. It looked so nice and the photo was spectacular.
I had the privilege of working there many years ago.
