Best Price Deli & Grocery is closing on 1st Avenue

The Best Price Deli & Grocery has started its store-closing sale here on the southeast corner of First Avenue at 12th Street... preparing to shut down at month's end...
We hear that the rent is $22,000, and business has been down in recent months.

Thanks to Lola Sáenz for the top photo ... and Vici Shaweddy for the night shot.

  1. That's too bad, another small business closing. They had a lot of specialty items that are hard to find anywhere else in the neighborhood.

    1. On the bright side, 2021 will be even worse, if nothing happens on November 3rd.

  3. Awwww, this was a great place to shop when I didn't feel like hitting Trader Joe's or a supermarket. Sorry to see them go.

  4. This sucks. They carried a lot of unique things at great prices, and I've seen them give coffee + snacks to housing insecure folks more than I can count. What a great business, so sorry for the owners.

  6. Sad news. Sorry to hear this.

If the senate does not turn blue and if the narcissist orange freak in office is given another term, NYC will go completely bankrupt without federal stimulus relief for residents and small businesses. I am truly terrified for everyone right now. Such scary times.

  7. Oh no! This is such a good place to shop. They have everything, and the people who work here are always nice. It's sad to lose this business.

  8. Please blame it on Trump when it was Cuomo and DiBlasio who shut down the City.

  9. Maybe Cuomo can write another book about his joy at killing NYC.

  10. Really sad, one of the better bodegas and the last of a dying breed. Bodegas like this are almost like an essential service in the lower east side. Can't believe they couldn't get a rent deal. They were really kind people too.
