For some reason I have no sympathy for the union in this situation - when the Strand is permitted 100% occupancy by the State, then they can yell about rehiring. Its just a job at a bookstore. Union knows they can't move.
ReplyDeleteWent by the Strand this morning around 11 AM, there had to be 40 people waiting in a line that snaked from the side door on 12th Street down to 4th Avenue and the over to 13th Street, all waiting to sell books they probably read during lockdown and now have no further use for. That doesn't suggest a store closing any time soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the Wojnarowicz link...been wanting to see that doc. Also, those Sally Davies photos are worth a look...so cool. Damn.
ReplyDeleteUnrelated: Hope the Strand is doing a better job of cleaning their pre-owned books.
