The Mexican restaurant is now dark ... and there are signs in the window noting a new venture titled Tompkins Village Cafe (thanks to the commenter who pointed this out in the previous post)...
The menus posted to the storefront yesterday show a variety of breakfast items (including a Good Morning Salad), sandwiches and burgers...
It's not immediately clear if the folks behind Chichen Itzá are also doing the new cafe concept ... or what made them pivot the business after two-plus weeks in existence here. (We first saw them open on Oct. 16.)
Wow - thanks for 16 great days!!!!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately my "Good Morning Lumbago" is much older than that joint was, oh well.
ReplyDeleteUnder/over for the new place exceeding 16 days?
ReplyDeleteBizarre.
ReplyDeleteWhat's up with all the hyphens in the menu? French-Toast?
ReplyDeleteWow I was meaning to try out their menu. Looked pretty solid. Not sure I care that much about generic cafe food..
ReplyDeleteThis is very generic. They should have stuck with their original menu, came up with a better name, created more appealing and clear signage and gotten out on the streets to do some marketing. I give this place another month tops.
ReplyDeleteYeah I feel bad for them. They’re really not going to survive.
ReplyDeleteIn case they read these comments, dim the lights down a bit!! They’re too bright. Dimming it will create a better atmosphere.
That + 2:12’s spot on comments
I stopped by for a house salad, it was delicious! I love sweet potato in a fall salad, and avocado too. Hope the community will embrace and support it, they're really nice people. I'm happy to have healthy food options, it's not always easy to find greens and fruit within a quick walk, and priced a few dollars below some of the chains. Much rather support these folks than Sweetgreen.
