Updated 12/20: The city has fixed the MHP-MPH errors!
EVG reader Krikor Daglian first pointed out the transposed letters in MPH < MHP.
Vinny & O (and several others!) then pointed out that the MHP is on the entire length of the Avenue, from Houston to 14th ...
Perhaps the
This is why there is so much congestion because someone at DOT does not know how to read. We dont need more bike lanes or more parking spots. We just need to share the road, without the help of the DOT of course. Lol
ReplyDeleteeven more hilarious is that they had already spray-painted "20 MPH" all down the Ave as a "guide"
ReplyDeletePray that no national or international media picks up on this story. We do not need ridicule on top of everything else we are dealing with.
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be an epidemic of reading issues too ! The mail in the neighborhood has been ridiculously misdelivered as well ! Yikes !
ReplyDeleteThe zero (0) should be removed, too: If Ave B remains part of the Open Streets program, the 20-mile speed limit painted on the street will conflict with the 5-mile speed limit on the Open Street signs. Drivers will just add or multiply the numbers. This is Mhpfff....ucked up.
ReplyDeleteGod, how embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteProof that failing up is still failing.
ReplyDeleteAnd another de Blah-sio NYC "special"!
ReplyDeleteI think this actually deserves to go viral & the DOT deserves every bit of scorn they get for being so unbelievably stupid.
Doubt that the DOT is responsible fort this. Striping and marking is typically outsourced to private companies. Either the guys on this crew don't understand English, are very dumb, or got smoked up before they started. My guess is it was their first go round and most likely their last.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see Carlina helping out...
