Coddiwomple makes closure permanent

Photos by Steven

The Coddiwomple outpost is now officially closed at 213 First Ave. between 12th Street and 13th Street.

The quick-serve sandwich shop had not been open for several weeks... and the closure sign arrived over the weekend...
Coddiwomple just debuted here in mid-January... the third location for the brand with the tagline: "Travel By Sandwich™️ Internationally inspired sandwiches made with local ingredients."

The other two locations appear to be closed as well.

Anon @ 9:32 am - Not even close to a record. Lots of 'here today, gone tomorrow' closings over the years. Some douche bag had a proudly Trumpy bar on 6th street that, thankfully, was only open for about 20 minutes.

Here is an excellent example of signage failure. The physical sign itself is corporate and bland and could indicate anything: shipping, ice cream, vintage computer parts. As to the name, even if one is already somehow familiar with this bit of English slang, a coddiwomple, or “to travel in a purposeful manner towards a vague destination,” does not really track to sandwiches.

    bye 🥪 😿

11:29 Zach Neil is the douche that opened 'MERICA NYC, which should have been called MURRICA! (before closing in 20 minutes).
