As is this wasn't fun enough, we also lose an hour of sleep tonight. #DaylightSavingTimeExpect the changeover from rain to snow to begin later this morning in parts of the Lower Hudson Valley, making its way into NYC around lunchtime.

Strong winds and locally heavy snow may create dangerous travel conditions for a period early this afternoon. #NYwx #CTwx #NJwx pic.twitter.com/Sp05wEl2HJ
Wind, rain-to-wet-snow, and the jump to daylight savings time—all harbingers of spring, and quite welcome, as far as I’m concerned.
ReplyDeleteOn the upside: A quiet Saturday night without any rooftop parties.
ReplyDeleteI imagine we'll survive.
ReplyDeleteAnd yay, NO backyard or rooftop parties today or tonight!
Yes! No rooftop parties. As I walked home to Alphabet City from my shift as a waiter in the west village last night, there weren't a lot of people out as there usually are. It was absolutely gorgeous. I didn't have to walk in the street bypassing drunks to get to my apartment or get pushed to the side of a building on a sidewalk by obnoxious bros or step over puddles of vomit. Winter is my favorite season because not only was I born during this period, but because it is a time of reflection and solitude.
ReplyDeleteLast week, I was shoved by an extremely rude 20-something woman into the sandwich sign at Miss Lilys. She said something obnoxious as well and I realized it was the first time I'd had a physical encounter on the street with a stranger for at least two years. I guess we're back to "normal" now with the entitled brunch crowd swarming back to our neighborhood like flies on trash. Woooo!
