A Snack Stop for St. Mark's Place

A rather generic-looking business called Snack Stop is setting up shop in the eastern storefront at 58 St. Mark's Place between First Avenue and Second Avenue. (Vegan Grill is in the western space.)

The signage (with a typo — GROICERIES) promises exotic soda and snacks... as well as an ATM.

The space has been vacant since Clay Pot didn't reopen after the PAUSE of March 2020.

Can't believe it has been 10 years since Natori, a longtime favorite, closed here.

Thanks to the readers who shared photos of the new signage! This pic via Steven.

The space's owners used this space to leave 2 large dogs that barked non-stop throughout the inner courtyard morning, noon, and night during early COVID. They were alone all the time except when someone would drop off food. I sure hope they gave the place a thorough cleaning.

I too miss Natori and the vegan cafe ain't half bad though it ain't no Kate's Joint but man that is gonna be one tiny deli, suspect it's a smoke shop in disguise fingers crossed it's not and really gonna have some interesting snacks but....

Like most of the "exotic snack" spots in the city, this is almost certainly a placeholder weed store. Why do they all look the same (read: like shit)?

This place is THE BEST! The owner is a young guy and his brothers who are genuinely nice, hard-working people with soul and a story. Definitely not your typical bodega/smoke spot. Welcome to the neighborhood Snack Stop, we are so happy to have you.
