That's all for the short-lived Luna Cafe Lounge on 2nd Avenue

A for rent sign now hangs on the front window of the Luna Cafe Lounge, marking the official end of the bar-restaurant (cafe-lounge) at 166 Second Ave. between 10th Street and 11th Street...
We first spotted the signage for the establishment, related to the Luna Cafe in the Bronx, last March. And we're honestly not sure when they opened (or closed). All nine of their Instagram posts arrived on the same day: Nov. 13, 2021. And we never heard from them again.

This is such prime EV space, and nothing has worked since Dunkin' closed here in 2010.

In the past 12 years, we've seen these places come and go: Meyhane, Medina's Turkish Kitchen, Entrez Bar & Grill, Farfasha, Dinah, Pomodora and now Luna Cafe Lounge.

Thanks to Steven for the photos!

Wow this location as well as the corner of 12th st and 2nd ave are bad luck locations for businesses. They never last very long.

Bad feng shui there.

The space is uncomfortable. It's narrow and awkward. Even when it was a D&D, something about the space didn't feel right. They did have those stools along with window, though, which was a nice place to sit.

Don't know about "cursed" location, but I DO remember one restaurant that heavily advertised itself as a 'hookah lounge' which made me mentally delete them from my brain-map of restaurants in the area.

Maybe if rents were sustainable, a business could start and take root there.

Maybe if "projected" rents were not the basis of equity loans and mortgages, owners could lower rents.

Maybe if the city imposed commercial rent control, we would not have 50% of the storefronts on every city block EMPTY.

I thought I had heard that a number of these past businesses were related to the owner/managership of the building?

Interesting how some spaces never stick.

Although I agree on capping commercial rents, still, 50% storefronts empty on every city block? You're in a 2 years delay. Most storefronts get a taker, and most restaurants are busy and full, and doing just fine, with young patrons willing to pay ridiculously over priced prices. So all this have nothing to do with specific location.

I knew when I clicked on this that half the comments would be about cursed location...

agree on capping commercial rents which are absolutely crazy now. this space would be great as a diner, since we lost Odessa and the 14th St. coffee shop during covid. pls no more smoke shops, expensive hipster food, or coffee shops that feel like a doctor's office!
