After nearly 20 months in business, Beloved Cafe has shut down at 196 Allen St. between Houston and Stanton.
The health-focused cafe has been dark in recent weeks. A rep at the San Francisco outpost confirmed the closure, stating, "Everything is so expensive there." The rep said, "At the beginning, it was so crowded, but then not busy enough."
Beloved Cafe opened in September 2021, offering organic juices, teas, smoothies, salads and plant-based bowls — not to mention fresh-baked sourdough doughnuts.
Yep this city is going to throw itself into another dead neighborhood era with these high prices for EVERYTHING, just people taking advantage of inflation and doesn't help that real estate takes advantage as well and pushes people out for 1-2 year 20 year olds.
ReplyDeleteBad location for a restaurant . McNally's endeavors across the street couldn't even make it
ReplyDeleteThis is on Allen Street. Keith McN's 2 restaurants (Pulino's, Cherche Midi) were on the Bowery at Houston Street.
ReplyDeleteOops! My mistake🥺
DeleteLooks like a great space (always love a good countertop), except for the floor to ceiling windowed front. (God! will this cheap-ass trend ever stop?)
ReplyDeleteBut I never heard of this place.
McNallys was working as Robertas but investors wanted more and changed it to the bland Cherche…u could tell their heart wasnt in it and it was noticed. Beloved seemed to hurt their chances with weird opening hours. They only did lunch for the longest time so it was closing super early and it turned a lot of locals off as they couldnt make the place out..it woulda had good local support but felt that was a bad management decision.
