Gorin Ramen has closed on 14th Street

Gorin Ramen has shut down after three-plus years at 351 E. 14th St. just west of First Avenue.

However, Gorin fans can still travel to their Gotham West outpost on 11th Avenue for the Kitakata ramen.

There isn't any mention of this closure on Gorin's social media or website. Google lists them as "permanently closed" and someone removed the signage and menus from the restaurant's exterior fence.

The ramen shop opened here in January 2020 and only had three months of uninterrupted service before the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

    We could see this one coming, with its prices going way up, and a new general cheapness vibe that took place recently.

    The timing couldn't have been worse, and I'm sure they gave it their all, but the odds were stacked against them. It's sad.

    I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did. Their ramen was never that great, and they served it in these really narrow-based bowls that were only half-filled, which meant you got about 1/3 of what a normal ramen joint would give you. It also didn't help that they hid themselves behind that weird fence. Don't want to see 14th Street? Then don't open on 14th Street.

    Well back to eating proletariat slop consisting of fancy sandwiches, froyo, mini cupcakes and croughnuts. Did I miss any other expired food trend to wait in line for?

    I went there only once but thought it was pretty good ramen, if perhaps a little too pricey. It was definitely better than the nearby kyuramen (which I've been to a lot more times since it's cheaper and slightly closer to me)
