On April 7, the Department of Transportation issued a "Termination" notice for the curbside space — just two days after a court-appointed bankruptcy trustee locked the longtime owners out of the premises.
The owners of Foxface, current residents and former commercial tenants of the building housing Theatre 80, were reportedly the high bidders for 78-80 St. Mark's Place during its bankruptcy auction on May 9.
Their new venture, Foxface Natural, debuted in May at 189 Avenue A between 11th Street and 12th Street.

ReplyDeleteI am pivoting off of what 5:30 PM said. It's 2023. Time to eliminate the sheds. Most are unsightly, and as someone who previously served dining customers as a waiter in a shed at a former local restaurant, they are a public nuance chalked full of biohazards. So glad the city finally removed this shed in particular.
ReplyDeleteThe streets look so much cleaner and the sidewalks are much easier to navigate without these sheds. I was 100% for them during the pandemic but it's time to turn the page and get rid of them.

What about between A and B on 7th St and 9th street, it's disgusting and claustrophobic walking through there. Pandemic is OVER.
ReplyDeleteWhy must anti-car activists always post? They should not even be allowed to post. Yes, activists, vehicles are used for carrying items and transportation and we do not want to use horse and buggy. Enough. Nothing to do with this.

Because...they are bad for city/environment/ we have an amazing public transportation system in place/ only 22% of those who live in Manhattan actually own a car.
As someone who lives here, i rather that space be a public space, it doesn't have to be for the restaurant. But the streets are ALWAYS packed with cars from people who dont live here. Why is that better?
Just weird how excited people get over something being taken down only for 1-2 cars to be put in it's place...how is that better?
