A Fresh new look for CTown on Avenue C

Exterior renovations got underway at the CTown on Avenue C at 11th Street back on Saturday. (Thanks to EVJackie for the top photo.

And Jose Garcia provided an update on the supermarket that's getting a Fresh rebranding ...
So far, the renovations are contained to the outside. Perhaps an interior makeover is in the works too.

CTown shopper Edmund John Dunn reports "Under New Management — Much more selection at better pricing!" signage at the grocery.

  1. its great that C-Town is there and it would be even greater if they made it a better place to shop!

  2. Looks great! And actually they have spiffed up the inside quite a bit lately too. The produce section is greatly new and improved.

  3. They actually already revamped the inside a little bit last month; especially the produce area which is more spacious and better taken care of now (no more hidden corners of rotting veg).

  4. Apparently the selections are much better than before. Particularly the produce.

  5. What does the C in CTown stand for?
    Krasdale
The "C" in CTown (C-Town) stands for Krasdale. When the chain of stores was launched in 1975 they were called K-Town - the founder's name is Krasne - but KMart objected.

  7. Went in yesterday for the first time in around two years; it definitely feels a level more taken care of than in the past. Produce was indeed better than before, and subjectively looked better than Associated's.

  8. I got the worst case of food poisoning at C-Town in 2004, and stopped shopping there. I threw up for 11 hours due to expired Perdue chicken cutlets, something I normally never eat. I called Perdue to complain and got them to agree to refund me a day's pay for missing work--$200--provided I mail them the packaging and receipt showing I bought the chicken when it was expired. On the way to the post office, I stopped in at C-Town to check the meat section and found other packages of the same EXPIRED chicken in the fridge section. I told the manager this and showed him my expired packaging that I was planning to mail to Perdue, and he promptly SNATCHED the whole envelope with the receipt and then walked away and I had no proof to mail to Perdue, and never got any payment for lost wages.... Long story short: Cuidado! (Be careful and always check expiration dates wherever you go). I truly hope C-Town under new management has cleaned up its act, because if I had been an elderly woman I could have died from that shit.
