From crabs to wings on 1st Avenue?

Photos by Steven

Opening soon signs are posted on the plywood outside 225 First Ave. for Buffalo Wild Wings here between 13th Street and 14th Street...
Given this era of fake coming soon signage, we contacted BWW's corporate office to verify the arrival. (We will update if they respond.) BWW has other locations in and around the metropolitan area, so it wouldn't be a shocker if they decided to open one here.

And they may have some good consumer data. If this is legit, this makes for the fourth wings joint on First Avenue between St. Mark's Place and 14th Street (Dan and John's, Atomic Wings, Koko Wings) ... not to mention Wingstop around the corner on 14th Street between Avenue A and First Avenue.

This retail space was most recently, for a year, Crab Du Jour.

  1. So weird to see shops from malls (if those still exist) in the EV, we have Panda Express right up on 14th.

  2. Everyone complains about vacant storefronts. Then they complain when a business opens. SMH

  3. saying something is weird isn't a complaint, it's a neutral comment. And I agree, it is weird (but it's better than an empty storefront - for 1042a)

  4. I don't care for Buffalo Wings and they are messy to eat.

  5. The rule on EV Grieve is the only openings you are allowed to celebrate are select restaurants (Can't be open too late, can't serve too much alcohol, can't be popular with the wrong groups) and very niche small businesses. Everything else is verboten.

Agree. Any opening is better than a vacancy.

  6. BWW is a national chain. It is ok to not be thrilled about them opening in our neighborhood. Not an offense imo.

  7. BWW and Panda are not "shops from malls" (unless of course that's how it goes in your town). These are national chains, and the revamped Panda one is actually fun.
Less excited about the a dumb wings sports bar. Rather have an empty store front instead of this one.
