The SantaCon website lists Midtown as the starting point... and the "donation" for a ticket is $15.
No word yet on the route, participating bars, etc. — all that will arrive in the days leading up to Dec. 9.

Why does this still exist? If you wanna play the fool, do it at home
ReplyDeleteOMG - Hide the women and children and yourself! HA
ReplyDeletePerfect! I will self isolate in my warm apartment for twenty four hours until the madness ensues as I did last year. Any good Netflix or Hulu recommendations?
ReplyDeleteOh no. Freaking santas.
ReplyDelete"Violent Night" is surprisingly funny and yet almost sweet, if you can handle the dark humor/violence.
ReplyDeleteI used to have no issue with SantaCon and even participated. But it has gotten insanely out of control/ violent the last few years. I haven't participated in over 5 years but I've seen the videos that have surfaced of the fights and crowds. That the city still allows for this is crazy. Best to stay inside all day and go out in the evening when the Santas are blacked out. Best time to get a good dinner at a spot you haven't been able to reserve in a year.
ReplyDeleteOof, I wish the Cookie Walk was not on the same weekend. Although I will be glad to have lots of delicious treats to snack on while hiding from the Santafied hordes. Will just have to get there early, I guess!
ReplyDeleteAs a long term resident of the east village, I dread those insufferable 24 hours more than being heavily anesthetized for a root canal. I despise everything about Santa Con. It perpetuates havoc on neighborhoods and businesses. I bartended for years and had to take Valium during my shift to tolerate and serve drunks in their stupid Santa outfits. Just cancel this day for the good of humanity please.
ReplyDeleteIt's the most horrible time!
ReplyDeleteYes the most horrible time!
Oh the most horrible time!
Of the year!
RE: 2:27 " That the city still allows for this is crazy"
ReplyDeleteRight, just like St Patty's Day.
Unlike the Irish, the manufactured brother/sisterhood of the red and white perpetual adolescence has contributed little that I know of to the city’s growth and greatness. So I think New York’s Irish have earned their day. And let me know when the Santa Clowns start featuring marching bands, dance troupes, and fraternal and public service organizations aboard festive floats, for others to enjoy, instead of just
ReplyDeleteVomiting on themselves, being loud, and pretending that they known how to hold their drink and fight.
I’d say the Irish have earned their day, through their historic and ongoing contributions to this city. What dues have the Santa Clowns paid?
ReplyDeleteSantacon is the perfect example of how downtown has become painfully dorky and uncool. This makes my heart sad.
