B Cup Café is on the move on Avenue B

After 18 years on the SW corner of 13th Street and Avenue B, B Cup Café is moving to a new home — and just a few storefronts to the south.

Café ownership recently announced the news in an Instagram post, citing that their landlord did not offer them a lease renewal.

They will relocate to 204 Avenue B between 12th Street and 13th Street in the months ahead. (The photo below is courtesy of EVG reader Russell.)
No. 204 underwent a gut renovation after a June 2023 fire at B-Side, the bar in the building's retail space. (B-Side and the building's landlord parted ways in the fall of 2023; B-Side hopes to reopen at 131 Avenue C.)

B Cup owner Guy Weizmann said they will be expanding the café's menu and have later hours with the addition of a beer-wine license.

While he'll miss the corner space, he said he was happy to relocate nearby and "tried to do the best for the community, our customers, and our staff."

If you're on Instagram, you can follow the B Cup account for updates.

  3. Ridiculous that they have to move two storefronts over.

  4. B Cup has done such an awesome job making that corner cheerful and vibrant. I'm sad they'll lose their spot, but it's so great they're opening on the same block!

  5. Strong curiousity of what will become of that corner space. B-cup has been great, I'm not a frequent customer but liked the option. I wouldn't be surprised if both the new B-cup and the eventual new B/13th spot end up serving alcohol in some form. Very interesting news about B-side as well.

  8. I've been going there since they opened! I love B-Cup - great coffee, great food choices and an amazing staff. I always love chatting with the owner. I'm so happy they found a place just down the street - but really - what sort of idiot is the landlord? Why wouldn't you want a thriving, postive presence in your building?

  9. My wife and I have been regulars in B-Cup since 2011. Aside from the great sandwiches salads and drinks, they've done such a good job with that corner. I'll miss the old spot, but relieved that they'll be moving two stores down and open for longer hours. But really, what an idiot of a landlord to drive out a wonderful business that wants to stay.

  10. t's a shame they loose the corner, but thank goodness they are staying in the immediate area, for us and their staff, who are all really wonderful people, as is the owner.
