Sunday's opening shot

A morning view of Temperance Fountain in Tompkins Square Park.

Read some history of the fountain, which dates to 1888, here.

  1. Mr. Adams, TEAR DOWN THIS MONUMENT.

In all seriousness, our water wasn't as good in the 1880s as it is today and people drank more. But we New Yorkers know better today. Our cocktails and water as better than ever.

  2. Great Pic! I've tried to get a pic like that myself many times but never succeeded. Thank you.
In the 1800s in NYC hard cider & beer were drunk instead of water. They were safer.
