For anyone grumbling about unseasonably cooler temps in recent days... take a look ahead to Tuesday, June 24, with a high of 102 expected...

  1. I truly dread summer in NYC with every fiber of my being. After 25 years of living here, the heat only continues to intensify each passing season. To those who bask in the stifling humidity, unencumbered by its clutches, enjoy. Meanwhile, I will imagine being transported to Iceland.

  2. New York is summer festival of heat and humidity, to misquote something Mayor John Lindsay said a very long time ago...

  3. same old yes, but the manner in which people now 'socialize' has changed. People travel in packs, binge drink and offer little else to the community- if they *do* live in the neighborhood they tend to move on after a year or two so the population of community feels disproportionately 'itinerant' vs those who have roots and commitment to our neighborhood. also, when chatting to local business owners very few actually live in the community hence they are not invested either in building bridges with their neighbors.

  4. Guess I'm glad I'm out of town the next few weeks. I knew the weather would get better once I left for a few weeks but be envious of the 102
