From apartment to curb: massive move-out on 9th Street

We received several reader reports about a move-out at 418 E. Ninth St., between Avenue A and First Avenue, where, seemingly, the entire contents of someone's apartment are now on the sidewalk out front.
According to a reliable source, the discard happened late last night.

By this afternoon, the sidewalk had yet to be cleared, frustrating a reader who relies on a cane to help get around.

Updated: Clean up!

  2. I'll bet money the LL took all the person's possessions and discarded them in the dead of night. (My worst fear, TBH.)

  3. So this does look like a landlord job... but if it wasn't... I've had college kids move out of my building before and put their stuff out on non trash days (because honestly they have no idea when trash days are) in somewhat neat piles ... but it's a lot of semi valuable stuff (like, everything works still but was pretty cheap and but the kids were too rich to care to bring it to their next place.. etc).

What follows is a complete insane period of hours when people come and pick through it and toss stuff left and right when they decide they don't want it... and it becomes a complete disaster zone SO fast. Really disappointed me to see how quickly that can happen.
