A hairy woodpecker perched above the suet cake in the tree at 97 Saint Mark's between Avenue A and First Avenue. About 10 feet off the ground. Seems focused on the tree — maybe more interested in finding insects rather than the suet which the songbirds like.

Definitely seeking a juicy insect, or perhaps investigating what the other birds are doing there.

ReplyDeleteLove to see birds! Originally we started leaving the Cornell Ornithology Lab Sapsucker Woods bird cam (in Ithaca) on during the day for the cat but it turns out to be good for people too.
